How to care for your eyelash extensions
1. Avoid Oil-Based Products:
Oils, such as those found in many cleansers, makeup removers, and moisturizers, can dissolve the adhesive bond holding the extensions to your natural lashes.
This is the single most important factor in lash extension longevity.
Look for products specifically formulated for use around the eyes that are clearly labeled “oil-free.”
Consider using micellar water or gentle, water-based cleansers.
2. Gentle Cleansing:
Daily cleansing is essential to remove dirt, oil, and makeup residue that can build up and weaken the adhesive.
Use a gentle, foam-based lash cleanser and a soft brush specifically designed for lash extensions.
Avoid harsh scrubbing or rubbing, which can dislodge extensions.
Gently sweep the brush along the length of your lashes from base to tip.
3. Minimize Rubbing:
Excessive rubbing of the eyes can loosen the adhesive bond and cause extensions to fall out prematurely.
Be mindful of touching your eyes and avoid excessive rubbing, especially when tired.
4. Protect from Moisture:
Prolonged exposure to water can weaken the adhesive bond.
Minimize time spent in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, and saunas.
If you must swim, consider wearing goggles to protect your lashes.
Avoid excessive sweating, as sweat can also loosen the adhesive.
5. Sleeping Position:
Sleeping face down can create friction, which can dislodge extensions. Try a silk or satin pillowcase.
Try to sleep on your back or side to minimize pressure on your lashes.
Some people find using a concave eye cover that has room for your lashes to breath overnight helpful.
6. Regular Fills:
As your natural lashes shed, the attached extensions will fall out.
Schedule regular fill appointments with your lash technician every 2-3 weeks to replace fallen extensions and maintain the fullness of your lashes.
Consistent fills will ensure your lashes look their best for longer. Please make these in advanc
7. Avoid Heat:
Saunas, hot showers, hot tubs, fires, hot stoves and ovens, steam, hot yoga etc....will affect the extensions.
Pull back when reaching into the oven or stove, lighting anything you smoke, etc... to avoid singeing the tips!
The adhesive responds to extreme heat chemically, by sort of melting, so please avoid extreme heat sources close to the lashes to preserve them longer.
